HIKING ROUTES IN FRIGLIANA | ROUTE 1
FRIGILIANA TO NERJA ROUTE
Estimated time: 5 hours 15 minutes.
Length of the route: 15 km.
Departure/Finish: Frigiliana / Nerja Caves
We start from the hotel and head towards the center of Frigiliana going down a hill to the town and then to the Higuerón River, which we will follow its course “upstream” for approximately one kilometer.
We will leave the river to continue ascending to the division between this river and the Chillar. From here, we will see that all the small streams flow into this river that remains to us in a southerly direction.
From this area, we will enter a path that surrounds a series of valleys until we begin the descent and arrive at the riverbed of the Chíllar River. Passing the Chíllar, we will enter the municipality of Nerja.
From the river, we will enter the Cuesta de los Galgos until we reach a lane in which we will turn right. We continue through here to the Pinarillo Recreational Area, where we will take the path to the Cuevas de Nerja, ending this beautiful hiking route in Frigiliana.
HIKING ROUTES IN FRIGLIANA | ROUTE 2
“FELIX’S CROSS” ROUTE
Estimated time: 2 and a half hours
Length of the route: 4.1 km.
Departure/Finish: Frigiliana / Frigiliana
We will start the route from La Plaza del Ingenio. We will go down directly to the riverbed of the Higuerón River, which we will continue for 1km to an Arab construction that you will love, the “Pozo Batán”.
We will look for the sign that indicates the ascent towards the hills of El Chillar. The route of the route is indicated with a sign. From there, we will take the path to the right and go up to “La cruz de Félix”, where we will have some spectacular visits.
To return, we will take the path towards Los pies del Cerro de Pinto and then to the right, towards Corral de Pinto. From there we will go to the bed of the Chillar River, which we will continue upwards arriving through a slope to the center of Frigiliana, where this hiking route will end.
HIKING ROUTES IN FRIGLIANA | ROUTE 3
ROUTE TO LAS LOMAS DEL CHILLAR
Estimated time: 2 and a half hours
Length of the route: 4 km.
Departure/Finish: Frigiliana / Frigiliana
We will start the route from the center of Frigiliana, from the Plaza del Ingenio. From the Cuesta del Apero, we find a path that goes down to the east, towards the Higuerón River
Arriving at the river we will head to the left for one kilometer towards the Pozo Batán. 300 meters later we will see the beginning of the indicated route of this hiking route in Frigiliana.
We will follow it and go up to the Chillar hills, from where you can perfectly see Nerja and the Natural Park.
From here we will begin the descent with the path to the left to the Barranco del Agujero and we will continue descending until we return to the course of the Higuerón River from where we will see an old dam called “El pozo viejo”.
We will follow the course of the river until we return to Pozo Batán, from where we will retrace our steps and return to the center of Frigiliana.
