BALCONY OF EUROPE

Located in the heart of the town, the Balcón de Europa is a large lookout square open to the sea, with spectacular views of both the Mediterranean Sea and some of the small coves on both sides. The Balcón de Europa is the most touristy and lively area that you can visit in Nerja. Starting from here, you will find the main streets of the town and the widest offer of restaurants, shops, cafes…

NERJA CAVES

Discovered in 1959 by some young people from the town itself, this spectacular natural monument, declared an “Asset of Cultural Interest”, is a place that you have to visit in the town of Nerja.

It is estimated that they may be about 42,000 years old and here is the first work of art known to mankind. The visit to the cave lasts about 45 minutes in which you can marvel at the stalactites, stalagmites or its cave paintings, on a magnificent journey through the history of humanity.

The Nerja Caves are open to the public every day of the year, except January 1 and May 15. They are located in the town of Maro, a small town that belongs to Nerja and is 5 minutes by car from the town center.

EAGLE AQUEDUCT

Leaving Las Cuevas in the direction of Nerja, you will find this beautiful 19th century aqueduct with 4 floors of superimposed arches that was built to carry water to the mills of a currently disused sugar refinery.

NERJA BEACHES

As a benchmark in sun and beach tourism, another thing to see in Nerja are its cozy beaches. Only in the vicinity of the urban area you can find up to 10.

NATURAL PARK OF THE CLIFFS OF MARO – CERRO GORDO

This spectacular coastal space shared by the provinces of Granada and Malaga is home to spectacular landscapes and coves. It is also one of the most appreciated places on the entire Andalusian coast for practicing water sports such as diving or snorkelling. You can also take a kayak in many of them to visit this beautiful place where you will find caves tucked into the cliffs.

Some of the most famous coves to visit in Nerja, within the space of the Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo are La Caleta de Maro, Playa de Maro, Cala Barranco de Maro, Las Calas del Pino, El Cañuelo or Playa Cantarriján , already on the Granada coast. Some can be reached by car, but for others you will have to leave it parked beforehand and take a short hiking route to get there.
