The neighboring town of Nerja is only 10 minutes from Frigiliana and 15 minutes from our boutique hotel on the Costa del Sol. It is the closest coastal town to our town and, furthermore, one of the most important towns in the Axarquía.

WHAT TO SEE IN NERJA: VISIT 1
BALCONY OF EUROPE
Located in the heart of the town, the Balcón de Europa is a large lookout square open to the sea, with spectacular views of both the Mediterranean Sea and some of the small coves on both sides. The Balcón de Europa is the most touristy and lively area that you can visit in Nerja. Starting from here, you will find the main streets of the town and the widest offer of restaurants, shops, cafes…
In this square you will also find the Church of San Salvador and the “Boquete de Calahonda”, a beautiful Moorish arch that combines the historical past of these lands with the spectacular image of the Mediterranean Sea in the background.

One of the classics to see in Nerja and that cannot be missed during your visit.
A short distance from the Balcón de Europa is La Dorada, the mythical ship from the famous Verano Azul series, which was a success in Spain in the 1980s and which gave Nerja great prominence, as it was the place where it was filmed.

NERJA CAVES
Discovered in 1959 by some young people from the town itself, this spectacular natural monument, declared an “Asset of Cultural Interest”, is a place that you have to visit in the town of Nerja.
It is estimated that they may be about 42,000 years old and here is the first work of art known to mankind. The visit to the cave lasts about 45 minutes in which you can marvel at the stalactites, stalagmites or its cave paintings, on a magnificent journey through the history of humanity.
The Nerja Caves are open to the public every day of the year, except January 1 and May 15. They are located in the town of Maro, a small town that belongs to Nerja and is 5 minutes by car from the town center.

BOTANICAL GARDEN OF THE CAVES OF NERJA
At the entrance of the caves, there is a beautiful viewpoint to the sea and the Natural Park of Los Acantilados de Maro Cerro Gordo that you cannot miss.
There is also a pleasant walk to visit this botanical garden, with free access, where you can enjoy the flora and plant landscape typical of this area with a Mediterranean climate, also influenced by its proximity to the Sierra de Tejeda Natural Park. , Almijara and Alhama.

EAGLE AQUEDUCT
Leaving Las Cuevas in the direction of Nerja, you will find this beautiful 19th century aqueduct with 4 floors of superimposed arches that was built to carry water to the mills of a currently disused sugar refinery.
You can simply walk or drive by and see it or you can even stop to look at it more carefully and take a photo as a memory.

NERJA BEACHES
As a benchmark in sun and beach tourism, another thing to see in Nerja are its cozy beaches. Only in the vicinity of the urban area you can find up to 10.
The largest and most famous is Burriana Beach, fully equipped, accessible and with surveillance during the spring and summer months. Here you will find many beach bars to eat a paella, some skewers or the typical fried fish.
On both sides of the Balcón de Europa there are also the beaches of Calahonda and La Caletilla and following the coast, some others such as El Chorrillo, Carabeillo or Playa el Salón.

NATURAL PARK OF THE CLIFFS OF MARO – CERRO GORDO
This spectacular coastal space shared by the provinces of Granada and Malaga is home to spectacular landscapes and coves. It is also one of the most appreciated places on the entire Andalusian coast for practicing water sports such as diving or snorkelling. You can also take a kayak in many of them to visit this beautiful place where you will find caves tucked into the cliffs.
Some of the most famous coves to visit in Nerja, within the space of the Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo are La Caleta de Maro, Playa de Maro, Cala Barranco de Maro, Las Calas del Pino, El Cañuelo or Playa Cantarriján , already on the Granada coast. Some can be reached by car, but for others you will have to leave it parked beforehand and take a short hiking route to get there.
